I believe the problem was a general shortage due to priorities in the Pacific, no doubt complicated by staff wallahs not understanding the requirements and thus not escalating accordingly.
Too bad the First Div didn't have LVT's at the Po,Sangro & Moro River crossings.Would have saved a lot of boys" lives
