.... snail mail .... If Derek is in a smaller town or community, I assume mail would go to bigger cities for sorting and sending on to smaller communities.
When I lived in Nelson, to send a letter to Winnipeg, it first went to vancouver (West Coast) to be sorted then sent to Winnipeg. Letters took more than a week usually. And you're dealing with International mailing
