When the dual wheels are fitted, a special spacer is used on the front wheels to bring the centre of the dished wheel over the swivel bearings ( king pins ) . With out this spacer the front hub is likely to be damaged , when I was in the country we had a Ford Blitz fire truck on duals and it broke 2 hubs over a period of time . I only become aware of the spacer in recent years . Have attached a pic of one from the Truck Hall of Fame in Alice Springs , it has the spacer fitted but has the single combat rim. Jim S.
