Have a look at this thread on the Plane Talk Forum for some wonderful pics of Canadian aircraft including the Firefly airborne.

The R.C.A.F. took on strength a grand total of one Fairey Firefly MkI in 1947 and sent it to Namao as part of the W.E.E. (Winter Experimental Establishment) A great aircraft with many battle honours to it's credit.

Get a load of the hanger floor, one could eat ones breakfast off of that area.

Yes the Firefly does look a Mark 1, which if I recal correctly, means that it is Merlin powered. Also would make it very rare and I suspect only one flying. It is good to see that more and more older equipment, is being restored, so all can see. My father had exposure in WW2 to Sydney Cam, and when I went to Hendon, the old WO, took my photo holding onto a wing tip of the Tempest and Typhoon, that will make his eyes water says he, especially when you tell him they are the sole survivors. But there it does not end, because that statement today is no longer valid. I dips me lid, to those who really try hard, to bring more rare airplanes and vehicles back to life. Regards Col

It's a Griffon powered version - so one of the later marks.
