The 65,000 figure also includes Navy and Air force. Last that I heard was there were 7,500 infantry types in the CF in nine battalions.
Here is an interesting remark from Billy Bishop during WWII. As Bishop pins on the wings a short conversation ensues: Bishop: "And where are you from, son?" Groves: "Texas, sir."
