I have the opportunity to purchase some original, unmodified magazines & don't want to put my registered weapons in jeopardy, nor do I want to destroy a potential collector's item.

Un-modified high capacity detachable box magazines for any centre-fire firearm are in and of themselves prohibited weapons regardless of whether you own the firearm or not.
