thanks for that Grant. I too cannot see how it would work either. By putting a narrower section in the middle wouldn't you be risking the boom bending in that section?
I would have thought that it would just have a piece on the ends the same size as the interior diameter of the thicker posts so it could just slide togeather. Attached a photo of the 1/35 scale winch for my model I finished last night. Cheers Cliff
