Result....
after years of trying, one phone call to the main agent at my local port (Grangemouth) got me a competitive quote direct to Calgary, which is at least on the same side of the continent as Sean, and the trailers are off there now.
Now if only I could make a living out of this....... Thanks to Garry for his advice. Gordon
