Default International M14 Half track

A friend of mine has listed his Half-Track for sale. It really is a neat and complete example and is worth the $$$. See Trade Me. Peter is regularly involved in exporting containers around the world (the Half-Track WILL fit in a shipping container), and is quite willing to ship just about anywhere you want it.

Default M14A1

To the masses out there, are not the winch mounted halftracks know as A1 variants? IE M14A1, M9A1, etc etc.

Tony.
The box is off an M16 multiple gun motor carriage..The give away is the notched armour sides which were like that to clear the magazines which hung out over the sides...that were on the White,Autocar and Diamond T...
The M14 International multiple gun had straight along the top armour..

And the A1 designations had nothing to do with the winch but were added when the armament changed from the original designations..

Alex, it is an M14 that was originally fitted with a twin .50cal mount in the rear, but a previous owner could only source a quad .50cal mount and cut the clearance cut-outs in the armour. Besides that, it's all solid original M14, not cut and joined from parts. The cut-outs are only in the hinged plates and could be easily replaced if reqired.

Hi Tony..
That makes sense...The twin fiftys on the M14 didn't need the cutaways to clear the mags..The quad fiftys needed the cut aways ..
Anyway you cut it,it's a beauty..

Sean, AFAIK the A1 designation was for the variants with the MG pulpit. That is, on troop /mortar carriers only.

Nice half track, I guess the owner shipped it from France originally? Would love to see it restored as a Canadian example!

Hanno..
M2>>>>>>M2A1...
Eliminate gun track..add gun ring above commanders seat in right front corner of vehicle...right hand ammo box changed and some armour changes..
M3>>>M3A1...Add gun ring same as M2A1.
M3>>>>>> M3A1(75MM Gun Carriage)..a new M5 gun mount...
M15>>>>M15A1.. (Multiple gun)A totally new design
M21 .....Mortar carrier is a totally new design..50Cal.MG mounted in the rear and the 81MM mortar was redesigned to fire forwards instead of to the rear...
This replaces the M4A1 mortar carrier
These mods apply to the Auto Car,White and Diamond T models..
