Did you want original or repro, and does the P37 stuff have to be Canadian?

Hi,
You can try and do a search under the following titles; WWII Canadian Uniforms WWII Canadian Equipment WWII Canadian P37 Web Gear If you do searches with a title like above, it is amazing what will turn up. You will find people with original stuff and people who do the repos. Be careful with the prices as some things can be more expensive than ebay. Cheers, ![]() Greg

Thank you for your replies, I have several Canadian items already and am able to attend re-enactment events in the UK, depicting a sapper in the First Canadian Army corps of the royal Canadian Engineers
I have most items including a long branch No4 Mk1 what I am desperately searching for is Canadian webbing (I have British) and the M1 book When I was in Toronto last year I visited a surplus shop that has the webbing but have lost the address and they do not appear to be on the web, also a shop in Calgary (Inglewood area) that I visited which had most things If any one knows the web links for these I would appreciate it

There isn't one. I've looked at flea markets, antique auctions, 2nd hand stores, the internet and militaria shows in both Canada and the U.S. looking for reasonably priced original Canadian kit. About 10% of what I have acquired came from those sources. The other 90%, and I'm talking about a substantial collection...all ebay. I'm not sure as to your bias against ebay as there are some good deals to be found there, and if you persevere long enough, even the very rare stuff eventually shows up. And if you balk at some of the prices, remember this important point, the price will only continue to rise making that item even more dear in the future. Here are just a few of the great deals I have found on ebay, shipping included: 4.2" mortar round; $150.00usd here in Texas...ebay; $45.00 Unissued 1942 Canadian Circular tent, c/w pegs; $485.00 Unissued Telescope, sighting #22C Mk II; $15.00 Stereoscopic viewer and case for maps, photos; $12.00 Unissued Engineer's saw and leather case; $35.00 Several 2" mortar rounds $45-$95 in Texas...ebay; $25-50 This is but a tiny part of all I have purchased from ebay over the years. I'm not a wealthy man, just a working stiff so I make sure I get the best deal possible. I bid a lot on ebay but I only win about 10% of the time as I won't exceed my price limit. I don't have a lot of Canadian kit for sale as I use all that I have to load into my CMP to make it look authentic, but if there was something specific you needed and I had it, we might be able to make a deal. P.S. you are aware of the differences between Canadian and British Battle dress, correct? Good luck, Derek.

You are getting into, or are a current reenactor. Please remember this.... when a soldier needs a piece of kit replaced, he take whatever the heck he is issued, weather it be Canadian, British, Aussie, NZ, or Indian. Doesn't matter. OK execpt for the India made stuff, not up to the others standards and tended to fall apart.
If you want to be 100% correct and you are doing say a 1st Cdn In Div impression...Don't use Cnd gear. It won't be right. LOL what I mean by this is....the 1st Div went to the UK in 1939 with mainly P08 gear. They were kitted with P37 Gear in teh UK therefore no Cdn Gear available. I have a photo some where of my uncle Harv, Hasty Pees in 1939 just prior to shipping out overseas, he is P08. |

I also agree with Pylon.....having collected for the better part of 40 years...(started at 13) I have received many donations in the past and some of the tunics were brit with cdn insignia and they were "going home tunics" that the original owner had. Some mentioned that one tunic always seemed to wear-out faster than the other and when being issued new kit in theater there were times with the 21st Army that brit stuff was given out.
cheers Mike |

Hi
I've read this with interest and thought I'd try and help. Please bear in mind I do not collect kit items, am not a re-enactor, and have only purchased insignia from this vendor. Having said that, I've had prompt and curtious servious from him. He replies to emails and has, on the required occasion, provided pics. I am, in no other way, connected to the vendor. http://www.militaria.qc.ca/ regards Darrell |
