Re. O/D on tanks.
many of my models are based on books by veterans. Many tanks after 1944 were actually finished in British Khaki drab or plain old dark green. This would of course apply only to those that, as per Hanno's post, were modified or had been through workshops. By the end of the Normandy campaign this would be a lot of vehicles. Tip- on the old 'orthochromatic' film Khaki drab shows up as a lot lighter then Olive drab. Tou can tell 'ortho' film as yellow shows as black ! In a recent (well, late '02) series of articles in "Military Modelling" magazine Steve Zaloga concluded that Tamiya acrylic o/drab was the nearest to original paint samples and I think that the same applies to British colours as well. According to a 4th Cdn.Arm.Div. veteran most of theirs were actully dark green, hence the colour scheme on my Staghound etc.
