You are absolutely correct, Pedr, although I think they were perhaps etched rather than stamped, they certainly weren't cast, and they were not used on carriers as far as I know.
That's in interesting point re post carriers - I hadn't thought of that - most of the CMPs I've seen them on would have been retained post-war such as the tippers and arty tractors, so it is possibly something which was a post 45 thing. Somewhere there will be some paperwork on the subject no doubt.
