Yes Wayne, you're right, we don't cut up WA carriers anymore. For those few who don't know, back in the middle 1980's I acquired a LP2a much the worse for wear and learnt that back in the 1950's, the army had towed many carriers out to a National ParK on the outskirts of perth and threw them down a steep hill in thick bush. For the next several years they used them as target practice, even hitting them sometimes.

Needing front, back and side armour I went up there with the dreaded gas axe and spent a weekend at the closest carrier, lugging huge lumps of steel up a huge hill (aided by millions of bushflies) The Parks Authority had decreed that the 9 carriers could not be dragged through thir precious bush at all.
I found out later that my doner carrier was a fairly rare one of a 100 plus made in 1941-2 in WA (at the State Engineering Works, North Fremantle). When I realised this I made the mistake of telling someone and I'm still being reminded of it.

The Parks Authority have now decreed that there might be unexploded ordnance in the area (even though all the rounds used were A.P. solid shot.) and have banned any human activity in the area. Before they did that though Graeme Stephens spent some time there acquiring stuff for his carrier and took the effort to log all carriers details and photograph them. I dont know if anyone would be interested in seeing them?

Below is my carrier as found and completed. Sadly it hasn't moved for probably 8=9 years now.
