universal carrier

I'm just wondering if there is any way of finding the vehicle serial number for this carrier. We have the data plate details, but the armour infront of the driver is cut away taking with it all the stampings

Also would a CD2609 vehicle with a build date of July 1944 have shipped over seas or been left in canada as storage, I imagine by that time there were enough vehicles in europe any way?
