A similar thing has appeared over here in the UK. A lot of schools do not want Services recruiting teams to visit Careers days etc.

Default Interesting form of Censorship

The very people who should be screaming about illegal censorship are in fact screaming for it:

Christine Comrie, one of that union’s directors-at-large was quoted in the Martlet—the student-run newspaper at the University of Victoria—as saying that it was important to ban the military from recruiting on the campus.

“A lot of students don’t know about the issues and don’t know about the facts,” she said. “We have to make this decision for students.”

Well, "Sieg heil" to you Miss Comrie. We live in a free society (bought with the precious blood of the very soldiers you despise) and frankly, I don't need you to make decisions for me and I will certainly not ever send my family members to a centre of learning that espouses such ideas!

If you are worried about ignorance; then educate but don't sit in judgement and pass rules to make up for the lack of knowledge. People like you with your elitist "thought police" approach led to the mass graves I helped dig up in Bosnia; led to the sectarian violence that led me to patrolling the 'berm' in the Western Sahara; led to the intolerance that saw me deploy to the former Soviet Republic of Georgia; resulted in my spending half my year for the last three years far away educating African peackeepers so that they might try to deal with the same intolerence in their continent... BAH, its useless to go on as your kind have the most closed minds in the world; and you call yourself a "student"... I know another word for your kind of intolerence, "taliban", yup, it means "student"... you know, the kind of student that decides that girls shouldn't learn because they might have an opinion; the kind of student that decides that a 12 year old girl should have her clitoris amputated with a rusty razor and no anesthetic because she might grow up to enjoy sex; the kind of student that destroys ancient UNESCO protected statues because they are unacceptable images; the kind of student that encourages the growth and sale of opium because it will help destroy the decadent westerners...

Old soldier venting! 'Nuff said!

Why doesn't someone in Ottawa get a copy of the paper and make a list of all the people who do advertise? Then we can inundate them with emails from all over the world asking why they spend money advertising in an "unpatriotic rag".

Young Law here, posting on my fathers' account.
I'm the one who made light of this bloody article. When I go to class tomorrow I'll make sure to pick up a copy of the paper. Surely there are enough in the washrooms who've been used as toilet paper, but I'll attempt to find an unsoiled copy. Nice to see there's an interest in these University political issues outside of campus. Presently a group of University Service Members are doing their part to have this reversed as well.

P.S.: while it may sound like a corny movie quote, I think "You want me on that wall! You need me on that wall!" wraps it up.

Regrettably, there will always be people like this.

In his unique way, Rudyard Kipling wrote a poem called simply "Tommy", which commented elonquently on this type.

The last and most memorable part (at least for me) is:
