I tried to respond to the above link, even hammering in the security code 5x...no joy, so I'll make my comment here.

I am astounded that the country of my birth reacts so negatively, and so negligently, to the return of deceased soldiers who have died defending the same twits who bicker over jurisdictional procedures, defending their Shire fiefdoms.

On the other hand, I am mightily proud that such a public display of respect is shown to deceased returnees here in Canada.

I'm not sure about the protocols with other Canadian Forces Bases, but close to me is Land Forces Central Training Area Meaford, where, the following Wednesday of any reported Canadian soldier's demise, at 1100 hrs, the whole base goes into "respect mode".

All vehicles, military, civilian, delivering couriers, etc, must stop, drivers and other personnel exit, and observe an appropriate posture during the playing of the National Anthem, and, in some cases, the Regimental March of the home unit of the deceased.

During this ceremony, it is with fierce determination that we try to stay our tears...but, unashamed, we face each other afterwards...and, unspoken...is the thought..."****, It could have been me!"

Proud to be a Canadian!
