Bedford ambulance A 23575 and in the background under cover an Austin K2 truck I think? Did these K2/Y lookalikes have Wadham Stringer ambulance bodies?

Can anyone i.d. this car please? I thought Vauxhall at first because it has what I thought were flutes..Census # M 7002. Think it's a wartime J-type 14-6.

It is a Vauxhall, could be a 14hp perhaps, and the census number is from a group of impressed vehicles.

I see you have edited at same time I posted, yes J type 14 hp, does look like that.

Yes, think it's an impressed one though the Luton plant did produce a number of wartime 1940 Model J-types for the Ministry of Supply as staff cars.

Any thoughts on any of the other photos please? Especially the flat fronted Bedfords as I assume that the heavier ones are OX[C] not the OY series.

No idea what the Wolseley is at this stage. I think it may be a 1940 Model 12/48 four-cylinder??? Not a 14/60 six-cylinder

The first one is a MWV 15cwt van, with census no. V 770776, from Cont. No. V3904, followed by a OXD 30cwt GS truck, there are two more MW trucks behind and I think they are both MWV vans as you can tell by the canopy on rear body.

Going by the census number it looks like the Wolesley is from another group of impressed vehicles.

Nice piccies there David .

I noticed the 'L' plates there displayed. Those plates are STILL in use here , over 60 years on. Yellow overall with a black L . The modern version here a plastic stick on windscreen setup . I recall the cheap cardboard L plates down in Tasmania in the early 1970's, they were issued when you applied for a learner drivers permit. If they got wet or rained on they turned into a soggy mess ! I got the permit , but never went for the test .. drove around anyway ! Car was a 1953 Anglia with a Cortina OHV engine fitted. Student days .. one day the car came to a nasty end .. head on prang with a Ford Falcon ..ouch ( me not driving , in pass. seat ). The Anglia was concertina'd , no seat belts .

Thanks guys! There are some more photos but I left them out as they are the same vehicles but from different angles.

As to Photos 1 and 2, note the MWs..MWV?? have the full screens and in # 2they have the aero screens. Any idea which MWs they are please? MWV and MWC respectively? I hope that i can get the numbers off when the pix arrive.

Oh! What DOES "TC MT" mean? Training Corps Motor Transport?

I have just got to post this pix of two lovely ladies, with the L-Cpl doing the teaching. Note the tax disc I think it is in the windscreen. I'll bet the photographer picked the best of the bunch to get a close up of! Very sexist I know!

There are several Austin 10 Tilly utility pick-up photos in the collection as well as the 8AP army tourers. If you want good quality images then you can buy them from David Riley at info@minibusales.co.uk either on a CD or prints, though CD is better/easier for hm. They are very reasonable too! I can send thumbnails only for copyright reasons.

Cannot get enough detail to confirm whether photo no. 1 shows MWV or MWD.

The MWV is with full metal cab? Has somebody any pictures of inside of this cab. Any years ago I have sold this Bedford (one of wery early model, maybe 1939) to my friend (he is behind my Austin) he made gread work on scrab lorry.

But until this time he hasn´t idea how looks orïginal seats.

Hi Radek,

A MWV does not have a full metal cab it is the back body and canvas cover that is slightly different from a normal MW cargo truck (MWD). The early MWV van had open cab with aero screens and canvas roof and half canvas doors, then they had the metal half doors with canvas door tops and full windscreen.
