I know someone who did find exactly that - a full box of magazines still in the original grease. I know this because they were stored in my basement for almost two years...

Hi Guy - welcome to our forum. Thank goodness there are still people around like you that think outside their square. Whilst the boxes probably would have looked good on your steamboat, that is not where they should be. By advertising them in the proper forum these boxes will end up where they should be, in a military context. And who knows, one of our family may have some steamboat bits lying around that could move your way. Lets throw that up as a challenge.

Guy (and everyone)

I am in Ottawa and can store this if needed, once you make your deal. Most of the respondents know me.

Clive seems to have the winning answer. I have received sufficient replies to date to liquidate my containers.....and single stock sheet. Shipping of the items would be the expensive part of the transaction so that if Clive can store, I beleive everyone is ahead.

I will get back to those who have made the request....Saskatchewan....Toronto

to Bob in Oz

I did not know what the response would be to my post. I am happy to say that 3 collectors may get what they want. 2 collectors will get 2 containers each and a specific request has been made for the stock sheet by one collector.

I am with another group that collects steam and antique engines. I believe that such groups should post something like the most 10 wanted list of items that are being saught. Guys like me are interested in collecting but do no know what is valuable. In most instances, we do not know the value of the item. ( I don't mean $$$$)

I am glad that these containers will serve to show once again how it was...

Just got a phone call....I have to go on a mission for my grandaughter.

Keep in touch

Guy

Guy,
Call me at your convenence, evenings or weekends, at 613-820-7350
For Toronto-based buyer(s). I will try to get to the next Etobicoke show, if not a MilVeh show before that and we can arrange a hand-over.
For Sask-based buyer(s). PM me and we will sort out something.

Cheers,

Clive

I picked up this same crate from the trucking company's dock, whilst the consignee was occupied out-of-Province.

Guy
That price for the packing slip sounds fine. I am on the road right now, but I will email you Monday when I get back.

Thanks.

It would appear that all the stock I have is now accounted for and sold. In hindsight I could have bid on the other two chests.... but I did not think at the time that I would need them.

How scarce are the Lee Enfield boxes...... I may have aline on a couple of them is someone is interested.

Default Lee Enfield chests

There are two similar chests. They are so big and bulky that they are more of a pain in the a$$ to drag out. Then you'll have some camo' belly, gun store commando, veteran of the summer cadet camp campaigns, say he's used to have a dozen back when as he brags about what a great shot he was. Spare us!

The CNo.7 chest for the .22LR training rifle is quite common. If stored indoors and not too wildly painted, they will go $25-$100 at the gun shows. A split or rotted one is only worth the price of the hardware. I bought 3 dozen busted ones for $10 ea.

The other one is the No.15 sniper rifle chest. It is about 2" taller than the .22 chest, has a little flip-up block to keep the lid from falling, and typically has folded-over leather handles. They are worth talking about in private.
