The morning was rainy and somewhat gloomy at 14oC. That did not deter the Hammond Air Corps...I spent about an hour test fitting my floor plates.
![]() Things looked real good until I played around with my dog house. It took a few minutes of trying to figure why it did not fit properly when the obvious struck - the driver's side of the frame where the front of the dog house rests against has a semi circular bulge. You can see the bulge on the frame and on Grant's dog house in the next photo. ![]() So, I checked a Ford dog house to see if there was a great difference - there was. I remembered that I had another dog house sitting on Grant's truck frame. While trying to wrestle it out the tent, I noticed Grant's doghouse looked a little different - it had the corresponding rounded part on the lower right hand side. Grant arrived shortly thereafter and the swap was on. We had noted in passing that our dog houses didn't fit, but we knew that a good body man could fix that. Sometimes the solution is right under your nose. Bob and Grant did an outstanding job of fabbing up new fenders for the treasure-hauler. Here are some close ups of their work: ![]() ![]() While the boys finished the fenders, I got to play with the HUP. I wanted to see if all the work on the front clip would cause some problems with the fit on the body. With the help of the boys, we wired the clip on the front of the body. The damned thing almost looks like a truck now! And, it fit (although some minor mods are required). ![]() ![]() Following that fun, I got to work on shaping my round hatch spacer. Not bad for a first go - photos later - forgot to take some photos as it was near lunch time and Chez Marie beckoned. After lunch, we decided to tidy up. There was a ton of sawdust (including some leftover from the headliner spacer project). Grant and I swept the barn from west to east and then called it quits. Next week, it looks like we will be on the road to Barrie. Hope to see some of you "southerners" at the automotive flea market...cheers!

The Hammond Trio returned from the Barrie Flea Market late last night. We headed out to Barrie on Thursday afternoon and strolled the grounds from 8:00 to just after 3PM on Friday. This year we took in the whole venue including the dreaded Area B. We have now reached that sense of CMP awareness that helps filter out distractions (mostly, there was one young lady who couldn't afford a shirt that covered her "considerable" assets - Bob is still agog...). In the main, our focus allowed us to by pass the incredible selection of stuff found there and to zone in on CMP treasures.
Some of the treasures I found: Ford Cab 13 grill in great shape - $10 Prototype HUP (just guessing here - photos tomorrow) pax side door window and frame (in rough shape) - $10 Refurbished 45 licence plate (beauty job) - $25.00 - pairs were going for $50 Chev Horn - $5 Speedo cable - $5 Elusive but evidently still available CMP tool box (filled with modern tools) - $5 The boys can add their finds if so inclined to do so. Bottom line, it was a hellishly hot, muggy day of picking the "pepper out of the fly sh*t". But, worth the trip!

What can I say? Forgot the camera. In any case, it would have been a toss up which to photograph, the obviously altered mounds of female flesh, or Bobbie's face...

I did not have the camera with me, so I will attempt to reconstruct the scene -imagine two bald men trying to push their heads through a sweater top at the same time (and yes, they were facing forward as I could clearly see their "noses"...).

I know boring.... but at least with the windows we can do something with it..
Monsewer Clarke dug up the following .... alledged... CMP window.... seems to fit a cab 13 on the left passenger side.... sliding windows similar to the late 45 HUP..... it is sloped backward similar to a cab 11/12 but is too long to fit in the door/window opening...... In one of the pictures I inserted bubbles to show the 3 screw studs that are angled forward like the frame of a standard cab 13...... and it has evidence that it was bolted onto the door flat edge with the slope backwards... Any one has any idea what is was intended for..... Brian...??? and early experimental HUP model....??? It has the right height to fit in the cab 13 window opening..... Puzzled...? Boob ........for Rob Clarke..
