Cliff, I think if you look closely at your mufflers, a fellow could cut and turn the pipe and reweld to acheive the other hand. No?

Default Oil cooler

Jordan, I see your not running an oil cooler. Did not all Mk 1 carriers have oil coolers? Is it cold enough where you live to not need one? Can some one tell me about the heads on your motor/ Is that an original set up, or is your carrier running a post war motor?.
Cheers,
Lynn.

HI Lynn

As far as I know they all had them. I do have the oil cooler but I dont have any of the lines and the attachment points on the bell housing. If someone has some spares let me know?

Not all of Canada is cold all year. Our summers go up to the mid 30's. Its only Nov-Feb that can get really cold around my parts.

The motor is actually a 1932-36 model flathead. It came with the carrier. Somewhere in the carriers life it had an engine swap. However all of the bolt on things are from a Mk1 Carrier. I have found one photo in the Ospery Carrier book that shows this engine in one of the earlier British built carriers. Im not planning on changing it as everything works fine unless some hot rod guy wants it and he has the 37-41 model ready to go and we trade.

Default Oil cooler

Thanks for that Jordan, I looked t the photo and could see that your block lacked the extra hole required for the fittings, a job I wouldn't want to take on with the motor in the carrier. I would suggest that in summer you take it quietly without the cooler. If I remember correctly these flathead Fords are supposed to run a mono grade oil (say S.A.E. 30) and I think that is because the mono grade oils are supposed to disapate heat more quickly.
No Jordan, I don't have the bits spare, and you'll get them easier in Canada than here. I'd like a lot of bits from over there, but first I need to plant some money tree seeds Try Cliff, If he's collected 20 mufflers, he's probably amassed lots of stuff.
How hard is it to find things like, window frames, oil pressure gauges, ammeters, rubber rests, left front armour hinges and catch (and the list goes on)

Default 32 to 34 Ford v8's

Never thought to mention that those early motors fetch good money over here, and it might be the same over there. You might get more for it than you might have to pay for a later one. (Lots of mights)

Default Mufflers

Chris,
Thought I might throw the question out there on the chance that some other ," hoarder", might have right side mufflers. I've gone to several," specialty", muffler shops, but they all say the bends are too tight-I could do them one at a time using sand and a torch, but no two would look the same,LOL. Have been quoted prices of $40-$50 to bend and weld if pipe sections could be made to specs. I might try to cut a left hand pipe ,(at two locations ), and twist and weld in a jig made from a good used pipe end,(left hand). Trying to avoid doing it myself.
Cliff.

Default carrier exhaust

My mufflers are for Pontiac Firefly --the tail pipe is in two parts joined at the slot in the rear apron -all pipes were bent at local muffler shop

Default THE BIG ??

I think they REALLY REALLY REALLY scewed up making the top pipes to this carrier, What purpose do thes mesh or solid covers do? and if you say heat thats BS, everthing has heat, i think this is a mickymouse job or a screw up THINGY that don't make no sense. and or the pipes haveing a screwed up bend at the top, It reminds me of the 3 stooges , when curly's a plumber hooking up pipes in the shower LOL with no end, it looks good tho
