In light of the recent thread on odd battle dress I decided to post an odd battle dress jacket of my own. I picked this up because I hadn't seen one before. The type of material used and construction methods are consistent with items made in Canada but of course the label is not military in nature. The color in the photos is not accurate. It is the color of the light shade version summer field (bush) uniform issued in the 50's. I have a brown BD tunic in a heavier twill material that was apparently part of an old RCMP stable dress uniform. I don't think this item is RCMP related so I was wondering what organization would have used it. Any ideas?

Thanks for the photo, but what color is the tunic in the photo? Like I mentioned, I have a brown twill tunic that is apparently RCMP issue but the tunic in question is green. I think it unlikely that the RCMP used an olive green uniform.

Hi Steve,
The RCMP stopped issuing the jackets around 1980. The colour is a light green. I'll send you a PM. Regards, Al |
