Hello!
At last! After more than a year of searching and researching, i found him! My very own 20cwt trailer composite. He's in a rather good condition, but he'll need a few months (years) of work to make him perfect. Can anyone help me to find the matching manual? Normally it should be the SB-5 or SB-5A. Also i'm searching for some photograps off the interiour to restore the foulding flour. I wish everone a very good end off the year and an even better start of 2009!! ![]() |

Hello Hanno,
I found this trailer in Tremelo, here in Belgium. As you can see, it's also a survivor of the Norwegian Army. At this moment, i'm already taking him apart for restauration. I'm still surching for the manual, the SB-5. Do you know someone who owns it? Greets! Kenny |

This is the only photograph I know of the interior of the trailer, showing the folding floor. The text mentions "the secondary folding floor is of 7/8" hardwoord boards". http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/show...hp?photo=63202 I also would like to see more pictures of this folding floor and the location of the SB-5 manual.

Kenny,
Did you find a serial number on your trailer's frame?

Hello Hanno!
thanks for the info! Can it be that you posted this picture a few months ago? Yes, i found the serial number under a few layers of paint! it's a little difficult to read, but looks original. What do you think? I found it on the left-front side. greetz Kenny |

Kenny........ now that you have a bare frame..... can you provide a picture from a top view and one from the rear end of the frame.....
Me thinks I have a similar frame..... now sued for hauling 1000 litres of water for our annual BB...... I have had the frame for years and got it from a local farm auction for a few bucks....... it still has some WD brass tag on it... We are hoping that it is worth working on it for the Rotters..... ...............maybe as a "Beer trailer" Bob

Hello Bob!
My trailer is at the moment in a sandblasting firm. Normally within 2-3 weeks it should be ready. I will certainly take some pictures of the top en the end of it, and mail them to you! ![]() sincerely Kenny |

From the engineering drawings fo the 20 cwt Grant dug out and his determination to walk halfway across the back field to visually check out our old frame...... we are almost 99.9% convince that we have the right frame.
We just need to check out the blackout disc and tail lights cut out and rear leg support bracket. Will be waiting on the side. Boob

I'm selling my rare 20 cwt Trailer
These are very difficult to find. For the moment he's been taken apart for restauration. The chassis, wheels, and some other big parts have already been sandblasted and metalised. The wood is in rather good condition but needs a complete repaint. Sadly i have decided to sell hem due to lack of time, and the garage where he's standing will be sold within a fue months. |

Perhaps someone would swap for an original Ben Hur trailer in good condition?

Hello Harry,
there isn't an exact known data, but they have been produced in the beginning of WW2 to transport the typical canadian jerrycans (square ones). I did found the original plate for the manual (SB5) on the rear of the chassis and a very small one with some numbers on the front of the wooden "box". After WW2 some of these trailers went to the Nordic Army together with some F15's and F60's. This one probably came out Norway. As I know he comes out of the Diefenbach-collection, a very well known collector of Canadian vehicles in Belgium. |

...of course but the good items, like your trailer, are always across the BIG pond and Brian G. refuses to hide it in his suitcase when he goes over there.

Mine is all steel made May 1945. I'm missing the bifold floor that seperated the lower half from the upperhalf allowing 2 layers without stacking on the top of whatever they put on the bottom. It's next up on the project list.
