In the hubs bolted onto the backing plates.
![]() Seriously though they are commonly available here and I also have access to a good professional rebuilder. Bob

but I had mine sleeved in stainless steel in the 1980s and they are still going strong.
Note:- Chev C8AX (and probably other models too) have Ford cylinders on the front axle - I much prefer the Ford system with eccentric adjusters to the Chev system with the adjuster cups on the end of the cylinders and moveable lower links. Rob |

In North America, try Mac's Auto Parts. All of their items are numbered using the original Ford part numbers. Do a parts search for "Wheel Cylinder". The rear wheel cylinders for CMP's (Ford and Chev CMPs both use Ford brakes front and rear, except C8 4x2) are P/N 91T-2261, although I'm not certain if that would also fit your Carrier backing plate.

The local NAPA store in Denton, Tx. knows a supplier of CMP wheel cylinders located in the Eastern United States. The ones I bought last year were part number 4571 and were $65.24 apiece. If you need any help in acquiring some from them, let me know. Derek.

Tony, is that price in NZ dollars? If so .71 X 55.95 = a bargain!

Hi John
The sources mentioned are ones I have used in the past, yes Chev's have FORD brakes on CMPs. One point to consider is that new replacement cylinders are still cast iron and they will rust eventually. On two of my trucks I searched for and found new wheel cylinders, on both of them I eventually sending them out and having them sleeved. So if you have brake cylinders you may want to consider having them sleeved instead. The sleeved cylinders out last new cylinders, in my experience, by factor of 3 or 4. So new cylinders last 4-5 years and sleeved are going 10+. Cheers Phil
