Default Look at what I found...........

The flea market season is soon upon us. I love to dig into the piles of items we find.
I have found ammo boxes, food containers, gun sights, bicycle pumps, car and truck parts and many other items related to the big wars.
Now...... if you have a hard to find part,,,,,,, maybe you can just drop a photo with a reply to this thread.

Lets see if we can identify some of the rareties at the flea market and scoop them up

Guy.

I need one or two of the spider web (speed sights as the arty call them) as shown as item 16 or 19 in the photo below for the Bofors. If anybody spots some loose ones let me know.

I was at a farm auction on the weekend and dug around in a scrap iron pile and came up with a spare 13" wheel for my C8. It was the only army truck piece there.

Default Look what I found

While the boys were busy in the Hammond Barn, yours truly was scouting for booty. I dont know if it qualifies for border raiding but one of the auctions I attended was on the Quebec side of the border.

On saturday, I scored a Bren Carrier ammo box which is now snug in the Hammond Barn.

On sunday, my luck held out and I was able to capture a machine gun ammo box and a tear gas mask pouch.

I post the pictures for general interest to all readers. Not for sale at this time but may in the future if I give up steam and start re-building a CMP.

Try as I might, I did not find a Radio Box or AA gun sights.

PS: It is one year ago that I tripped on this site and sold four Bren Gun Boxes... Nice to see the progress everyone is making on their projects.

Default Look at what I found

While cruising a local auction I came upon some military pennants....and some spent, blank 105 mm shells....

I have an idea the pennants.... 12 of them might make it to the Hammond Barn....as for the blank shells..... they sure have a nice ring to them.

Interesting pennants. Looks like CO pennents for 30 Fd Regt (Ottawa), 1 RCA (Halifax) and 2 RCA (Montreal). The cut down shell casings must be the new (to me) reduced charge blanks used for salutes. I would be interested in seeing the whole collection. Will be barning it on Saturday.

I will have to check the local obits to see if any local Gunners have shuffled off this mortal coil...

Default New (to me) found items

Rob;
I believe you may have hit it on the head. The obits would go back a few years because the estate was for the wife who deceased some time ago. Now, apparently the valuable pieces had been held back. The family did not want to chance it at auction. So...... there is work to be done.

I know of a 105 mm shell casing...brass... approx 20 inches long...empty that was sold. The buyer told me I could have it as he had bought it on a whim. I just do not know what it is worth. It was nice and shiny and did not appear to have any dents or cuts.....

I'd like to have a close look at the Bren Equipment box. The hasps are unique to a few models of British and Canadian small arms chests. If it is Canadian, there will be a distinctive hinge and likely a precise stamping on an end board.
