Default PREFAIR military surplus Montreal...

Next time any Montreal MLU members on this forum are in the PREFAIR store can they check down aisle #2 for a stack of Bofors boxes C-216,C-219. I was told they are sitting there, but the store tells me they don't have them. Maybe they just don't want to bother with the cheap price of the box and shipping to Manitoba??? Cheers Rob

I saw those boxes there just three weeks ago. They were painted silver, and had hasps installed on them. There were a dozen or so. They were all the C219 box.

As Rob mentions, they are about 10 feet in on the second isle from the left side of the store.

Default Guns......

Do they still have the gun in front of the Sails mother store around the corner....???

They seem to dig up some old stuff every now and then.... I suspect they still have old inventory to draw from....

They might not ship to Manitoba but stuff could be picked up and shipped back to you..... hint hint...

All 3 guns are now in front of the prefair store. I drool over them every time I am there. They are for sale, but I am too cheap to pay the loading and the shipping. I have been trying to talk someone else from this way to buy one as well so we could split the shipping.

They have three 90mm anti aircraft guns. Two are very complete, while one is missing the axles and a few other parts. Price is 7K each.

They weigh in at 18,000 lbs each, and most of the tires are flat, so it may require a crane to lift them onto a flatbed.

Considering how many guns you actually find on the open market in Canada, these are a bargain in my opinion.

Rob,

I will probably be in that area later this week or early next week. If you want I could try to swing by and see if they still have them. How many do you want and do you know what they're asking for them? We'd still have to work out shipping. Do you have a Canpar, Fed-Ex or UPS account? LMK.

The 90 is a heavy gun, indeed. The gun we recovered to the S&P Museum was transported by a tilt bed truck. Loading was a breeze as the wheels turned freely despite the flats. "Up bogie!"

Default Guns of Prefair

Some photos of the 90mm Guns at Prefair. Its an amazing place to visit, lots of treasures. I picked up 6 NOS WWII large tent bags, with nice markings for 6.00 ea. The heavy canvas alone was worth the price.

Rob,

Sounds good. Do you want me to get 4 regardless of condition or you want me to let you know what shape their in before I buy them. If so, it might be a while before I have a chance to go back that way and get them. LMK.

Default C219 boxes

Rob,

I have your four C219 boxes. They're actually in pretty nice shape.PM me your shipping address and I'll work on shipping quotes. How do you want them packaged? They're rather bulky. LMK.

Can anyone clarify the CMS/C maker mark?

Rob,

No problem, I'm glad I could help. However, I did not receive your PM with the shipping info. Could you re-send it so I can work on the shipping quote. Thanks.

Default Prefair

Gentlemen if you need something in particular at Prefair such as the boxes you mentionned please ask to speak to the owner Mr Cote. I have been dealing with him for years and he is as schrew a businessman as they come. He knows where everything is in the store and the price of the item, believe me I have been to Prefair 40 -50 times and have tried to to asked for a price on a certain item and he has always answered the same. Prefair will ship to Manitoba, no problem, he ships tires to the US so boxes to Manitoba is no problem. To those who go to Prefair, ask for Jacques and tell him you would like to see the CMP in the yard, yes there is one and a CMP expert should look at it to see if it could be of value to anyone.
The Prefair yard is the place to find a treasure, you could spend days looking through the spare parts trailers and vans in the yard, unfortunately you will be escorted with no free wandering. Too many things have disappeared.
Also if you are looking for something in particular don't be afraid to ask Mr Cote, Jacques or Bruno.
I like to haggle over price and that is one very hard place to do that, if you see an item you want you will probably end up paying the asking price. He has a lot of weird stuff, next time you enter the store just as you get to the aisle look right and you will see some brown bars in a box, absolutely the greatest natural handsoap. .25 cents a chunk.
At prefair take your time and dig around. Gilles

Default SAIL now PREFAIR

I discovered it a while ago. The yard is a mess, but you're right about finding stuff. Jean Baptiste Cote is a businessman. He knows his stuff and will make a deal. If you give him a list of what you need, he'll be ready for you. His English is not very good, but he knows the meaning of money.

JB had a collection of artillery shells (among other things!) that he had gathered in one of the trailers. It was stolen. Now the yard is escort only.

That was a good lead. I talked to Bruno at Prefair. He may have, oh say, 75 of the Command and Recce Iltis GPMG Mounts that I've been looking for. I'm awaiting photos. The only problem is, they want to palletize the mount instead of just taking off the top arm, and shipping in a box.

Let me know if they decide to sell these separately as my son would like one for his Uglis, I mean Iltis.

ServicePub,
The mounts turned out to be the Iltis Rollbar, not the GPMG Mounting Kit. Shoulda know better than to get my hopes up.
Anyhooo, now I will either buy an Israeli MAG58 Tripod to use the soft mount or the titanium Brit L7 tripods to pull the soft mount. I can at least put the Inokatsu FN MAG58 on the L7 Tripod for displays, too.

Hi Rob,

Glad I could help. I see that you've already got them re-painted and put to good use!
