Buy an adapter, and fit a standard coil. If I recall the ford type coils give trouble. (I read it recently on this forum)

I also have about a dozen Diver's Helmet contact point sets at $10 p/set, rotors at $25ea, and Condensors at $20ea. All Aftermarket brands, all plus post.

That said, there is merit in the idea of replacing the Ford coil with a conventional coil, which then allows the option of running 6v or 12v.
This can be done using a commercially made adapter such as available from Patrick's or Mac's Auto (both in the US), or cannibalising your old (presumably dead!) ford coil. The upper and lower halves are held together with brass rivets. It is a matter ir cutting these rivets and using the lower plate. Feed a length of High Tension wire to the graphite contact (hold in place with RTV silicon or epoxy) and run this to the coil. |

Thanks for your repsonses gents. I have contzcted the various US suppliers with resonable response. (although I have been waiting four days to hear if they have distributor caps in stock) Tony, I like your idea of adapting the lower plate to enable the use of a standard coil, however on the Dingo the coil is very visable when you open the bonnet. Spares are always handy to have.
