you know that the economy is picking up (at least for some) when a battered BSA like this goes for almost 3 and a half grand!
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...OIBUAA:CA:1123 makes me wish I hadn't sold mine back in the early '70s for $20...... |

Prices are approaching £800-£1000 in the UK now.
People must be mad to pay the prices. |

Time for one of us to tool-up and build perfect replicas (except for the poor saddle design) at 500 L (no 'Pound Sterling' key on this agrophobic N. American keyboard) a throw!

A lot of the BSA fanatics rather have a battered one with original paint, than a good one resprayed. Quote:
Even the Danish post-war folding bikes fetch 400-500 Euros. I am really happy with the genuine BSA frame and bits I bought last year. It was great trying to replicate the missing parts......and it was ready enough to drive around in Normandy. Recently fitted repro handle grips and decals....just in time to drive around in Arnhem......still drives like sh%t though ![]()

Yeah - I had a 1937 Raleigh board-track racing bike that was slower on the road than my modern mountain bike, which was just as well as it had no brakes!
The frame geometry on these old bikes is terrible compared to modern bicycles. Much more cool, though. |
