Default Post-war British use

I have been discussing with a colleague about the limited Ford of Britain refurbishment facilities that I knew of. I think Sydney Alllard's companies continued to do work on V-8s for the Ministry of Supply, and may have done work on Ford/Fordson trucks as they did during the war. However, I know a lot about Ford's subsidiary Lincoln Cars Ltd on the Great West Road in Brentford: they continued to do work on V-8s up until around 1950. This included engines from carriers and for use in generators, landing craft, etc. My question is therefore, to what extent were Carriers used by the British post-war, and for how long?

alot of our carriers were given to the Russians (and others) on lend lease agreements, a shed load were tipped into the sea, and those that made it back led a variety of lives from working blackpool beach, to working for quarries, forestry commisions, agriculture, building trades, you name it they were utilised I know that Whitburn ranges here in the north east used a carrier right into the 60's for carrying crap down to the range butts.... unfortunately most of the bulk ended up being returned to pots and pans......

you often hear stories of carriers being used in wonderfull ways.... i am sure one chap posted on here about one being utilised as an icecream whisker or something along those lines....

In the traditional Recce Role in Infantry Battalions I would immagine they disappeared fairly quickly during the late 1940's.

As gun towers annd Medium Machine Gun Carriers they were certainly still in use at the time of Korea.

I posted some Ruddington Sales Catalogues some years ago which were probably the last ones released.

I have always wondered about the question, did we phase out the Mk2 / 3 universals with T16's ? or did we go to the 432's I know that 432's go way back into the 60's not sure if any earlier... I know during national service (1950's) my uncle said they had carriers used as a general dogs body runabout work horse, but they did not really use them as assault vehicles (so to speak) anymore during his service

incidentally on www.ww2talk.com there is a thread there on weapons and technology section and a similar discussion regarding the use of T16's (and for how long) by other countries being used well into the 60's heavily modified by this point infact if i recall one actually looked like a CVRT

Heres the link to the page I was talking about.

These Carriers must have been some of the very last in service/storage.
