Default Rear End Question

My carrier came without the engine and transmission installed and as I piece together all the bits, I was wondering how the transmission connects to the rear end. Is there an adaptor or gear that goes between or do they just bolt together? This picture shows what I have at the rear end.
Any info appreciated.

Greg there is a splined shaft inside the back end of your gear box. It simply meshes inside that part you have photographed. Once the engine is bolted down in the hull it will naturally be kept in place. Ron

There is a gear which splines onto the back of the gearbox mainshaft, held on with bolt, washer etc. There is a large circular casting on the back of the gearbox that plugs into what you have there. two rods from the bell housing hold the hole lot back to the rear plate. The coupling is made oil tight by a leather boot which is held in place, by two large hose clips.

Hi Greg
What part of the island are you on? I was at Hatley Castle a couple of weeks ago for my nephews wedding but didn't realize (or think) any MLUers were there.
Cheers,
Barry
