Default Morris CS8 hoses threads

The threads on the CS8 brake hoses are very odd

11/16" diameter and 16tpi ..both ends

Adapter sleeve ..this fits into the wheel cyl. 1/2" 20 tpi one end and 11/16" 16tpi the other end

These threads dont match up with anything in my books

BTW guys .. a chap in Argentina sells brake hoses for many older vehicles ..he is very cheap .. I bought some for the series 1 LANDY .. quality is very good

He even sells CS8 brake hoses.. amazing I think

My chart lists an 11/16 UNS at 16 tpi.
Austin 7's used metric threads. Graeme might be on the money?

I have in front of me a P. B. R brake parts catologue . It lists the folowing brakr hoses with 11/16 nf threads both ends I quote the PBR part # and length in inches.
P407 16 1/2
p409 18 1/2
p414 24 1/2
p416 20 1/2
p417 21 1/2
these numbers turn up in the morris commercial listing.
I would be reluctant to use old stock hoses when new ones can be made today . sorry naxt week.

See my post. It is from a P&N chart and there are only 2 sizes of UNS listed in the UNF section. 11/16 UNS is one of them (16 tpi)

Are you refering to brake hoses? As far as I know, the Austin 7 had cable brakes.

No, I was just referring to the fact that Austin 7's did use some metric threads (e.g. sump bolts. I am told) and that the suggestion that the discussed hoses, "might" also be of that ilk.
I am waiting to find out what the thread is.

Default Morris brake hoses.

Hi Mike. The thread mentioned in the PBR book is UN . I cannot find current listing. 11/16 UNS is listed in an old Blackwoods catalogue as BOTH 16 and 11 t. p. i. I have an 11/16 whitworth tap and it is also 11 t. p. i. I think the thread form would be different.
3BZ still works, have had antenna problems (also time) things seem OK now. Am trying to get up on 50 Mcs. Hope to catch up with you at Corowa.
John.

OK John

I managed to buy the Argentinian hoses from EBAY ...good quality and they fit well. I can only recomend this guy ..... he sells a huge range of hoses for older vehicles .....
