Richard that Mk2 was auctioned off up in scotland a few years back for next to nothing, sold to a dealer, check out the thread 'Grampian military show' on this site. Mike Stamway selling these for a profit?.

the rivets look like they have all popped on the Mk2 the Mk1 looks like it could be a good project but not worth 15k in its current condition. i thought the Mk1 was the one from Canada that had been on ebay etc etc it has the same square home made brackety thing on the front towing eye.
if he is selling them for a profit and has people to pay the money i think i may retire and spend all my time and money on importing carriers etc etc...

pictures added. I deffo think that Mk1 is the carrier that sold on ebay the chap had two and this one was buried half way up to its wheels.....plus it does not look rotten enough to be a british loacted carrier

Crazy money, they are only worth around £30k when in mint restored condition, so from the get go you have only got £15k to play with, if you are doing the work yourself then that is LOTS of money but if a company is restoring it for you, you would be in the red rather quickly I'd imagine. If it is RR services selling them then that asking price is par for the course

suppose value is in the eye of the beholder... things that would bother me about the price especially for that mk2.... the lower 3" of all the armour is more than likely rotted so will need chopped out and replaced...then re rivetted...replace the front armour, remove the mods... and find all the missing internals... lots to do there !
the Mk1 IMHO is a good one to get as the hull is in good shape and predominantly complete... but in my humble opinion is not worth more than 9k in its present state... and the wheels stacked up in front of it are all de laminated from the cast so i am guessing wont last 5 mins on a run. you would spend i reckon at least 20k getting them completed (if done yourself) and as you say Alastair if it was done by a pro the project would rapidly become unviable through expense alone. what i feel sorry for is some person may pay that asking price then come here...read our comments on value and feel pretty ripped off. nowt worse than buying a new toy to have folks say you been had ![]()
