Well, it was an adventure my son will remember long after I'm gone LOL! We departed Woodstock, Ontario on the first Sunday morning of Spring Break. A cool but uneventful drive to East Chester, Nova Scotia.
After scrounging as many parts and pieces as we could, and got the Carrier loaded on the Trailer, Tuesday things started to get interesting. First, we had an issues with the front passenger window. Went down perfectly. Up..... well, not so much! (Did I tell you I hate anything electrically operated) So we came up with an improved window for the 1950 km ride home.

We ran into some real CRAP WINTER weather heading back up through New Brunswick. This ended up allowing for a 24 hour layover in Woodstock, NB until the roads were acceptable.
People really came out of the woodwork to check it out at fuel and food stops. I have to say the 'Coaster's' are a really great bunch and very hospitable. Looking forward to a return trip during better weather.

Perhaps the coolest part of the whole ordeal was when we were cleaning the interior floor up a bit. My son was in the front gunners compartment and found an old .303 British blank cartridge which was fired.

Great project, and like you said a journey that you and the family will reminisce about for decades to come. Dad, do remember the day we picked it up...

Thanks for the responses and messages. My 'Manchild' Tyler is turning into a real Gearhead. And he has really developed a soft spot for anything 'Military'. The unfortunate part is my expertise is more 'weapons' oriented, (Small Arms).
My experience with MV's in the military was strictly 'Drive them till they broke' and when they did you hoped you weren't the junior man in the squad who had to stand by with it till the Service Battalion boys showed up. So to make a long story short, in the evening, instead of watching movies or XBOX, we read Vehicle Manuals. When we are together staring at a Deuce and now the Carrier, he will ask me a technical question and my standard answer is- ' I'm not sure, you have as much experience with these things as I do. What do you think? ' That gets a grin, and he digs right in.

Hi
Great project to do with the kids, never forget the first time I met my HUP coming down the road headed in the opposite direction with my son John driving. He had driven them all many times with me in the truck and permission to drive the HUP to school, but it was still a surprise. The HUP with John and the lacrosse team posing on it even made it into the high school year book. Family joke is that if we have a picture of child and it doesn't have a CMP in the back ground probably not one our kids. But one thing is for sure they general have a smile like your Tyler, so we must be doing something right. Cheers Phil

You have a great start with a lot of hard to find bits. Come down for a visit to see my machine if you'd like. If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask.
