Rust Remover
I came across this product called 'Metal Rescue' and was wondering if anyone has used this product and would you recommend it?

A good freind said make your own using one pat trans fliud and the other part Acetone. Put in either a metal container and shake before each use. or in a squeeze bottle however the bottle will get soft after a short time and you will have to get a new one.
The solution works very well and removes and cleans as well as works like a penetrant! Cheap too. Who doesn't have a portion of a litre of trans fluid kicking around...Crappy tire. hardware etc for the acetone. Good luck...oh yes ventilation is wise too!

with the acetone will it soften/remove paint? And does the acetone evaporate out quickly?
Been a few threads on here about rust removal, dips, baths etc but always interested in alternatives. I've got some small parts to clean, I might give it a try |

seems to turn it to rust free metal and with no work either soak the smaller parts and work the larger parts. Yes paint is softened and removed as well as skin...It can irritate so wash up quick. No it does need to be wiped down and I usually clean parts with brake cleaner or acetone before painting. cheap and dries really fast.

Hmmm well i suppose that is a way to go but I have found that water based anything is usually well water and does nothing but wash a little and it's your arm that really does the work. same as paint, clear floor finishes etc. Nothing wrong with them but...
You could put this in with engine oil and dispose it at a recycle centre or gas staion...

yes you are correct but much cheaper and just as good if not better. Again if worried about the used leftover pour it in with motor oil and it can all go to the recycle depot or a gas staion that takes used motor oil. I can't say anything about the magic potions though...magic would be I get the job done with out finding another to do on it..hahaha
Good luck with the restoration!

In the carrier section you will see where they use ! part molasses and 10 parts water . Leave it sit for two weeks then put your thing in it and leave it for a couple of weeks ,it loosens it up and removes the rust .
