Hi guys.. first post on this forum. I will post an introduction later
![]() I am in the process of buying av Chevrolet C15 or C15A- and have som questions regarding these vehicles: 1: is the chassisnumber stamped in the frame somewhere, or only present at the dataplate? 2: Theres a difference at the rear of the frames? On the some i have seen, the trailer hitch is fitted on a large spring between two brackets under the left and right frame member. http://news.webshots.com/ And on others the trailer hitch is mounted on the same spring between the frame member? http://www.gwim2.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/C15A3.jpg Cab 13 and without winch though on the ones I have seen. (pics stolen from internet) From other pictures it appaers like the frame members is av bit longer at the rear on the type with the hitch under the frame, its definetly different at the rear. Will a original steel cargobed and spare wheel carrier fit on both frames? I wonder since i have am concidering buying a good C15 without the cargobed, but I can get a cargobed from a C15A. 3: Whats the correct term for cargobed?? ![]() Cheers Svenn Last edited by zemsi; 01-04-11 at 19:57. |

The Chev serial numbers were only on the data plate. The frames were the same on both types of pintle hitch mounts. The box off any Cab 13 15cwt will work.

Hi Svenn
Welcome to the worldwide family of CMP owners and enthusiast. As to your question about trailer hitch and or Hook, pintle hitch name varies depending on which manual or parts book you look it up in. Explanation of why they differ in design from between the frame rail to below according to the Ford parts manual is as follows between the frame is the later design while below the frame is the older design. Likewise I have seen Cargo Body, Rear Body, and GS Body (general service body) Who has a C15 Parts book to check the Chevy explanation, while your looking that up what is the parts number for the rear cross member of the frame. Cheers Phil

For Chevrolet, the same pattern of below frame being the early version and between the frame rails being later is true.
The below frame style was kept on Chevrolets for the house type wireless body C15A (for clearance to the entry steps) and the water tank C15A (to keep clearance for the water distribution pipes and valves). |

Hi guys!
Finally I have a C15A!! http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/uplo.../IMG_07982.JPG Looks nice and complete. To finish of the previous owner restauration some info is needed, and pictures would be great: -What are the dimmensions/details for the wood pieces under the cargo bed. Both the long ones and the small pieces that go inside the frame. does anyone have a drawing of this? -Dimmensions, drawings, pictures of the bow for the canvas on the cargo bed. I will for sure post more questions ![]() Svenn Last edited by Hanno Spoelstra; 18-10-12 at 20:59. Reason: edited picture link - too large |
