Has anyone ever run across a supply of these round black steel boxes? The Canadian ones had a brass name plate screwed to the front of the box, under the brass latch. The Royal Navy version had the brass name plate riveted to the top of the lid.
I have been trying to locate an RCN one for a friend without much success. I think they all became cookie tins after the war! David |

I saw that one, Clive. It's a nice set, which deserves to stay together. I just need the cap box to replace one my friend lost many years ago. Fortunately, her Dad's cap and tallies for HMCS AMBLER have survived.
While I think of it, in the Royal Navy, the initial of the first name and the last name were stamped onto the brass plate on the Cap Box. Did the RCN do the same thing or use the sailor's Service Number instead, or did they not even bother to ID the Cap Boxes? David |
