Italian jeep

Hi Guys

A mate of mine has just come back from an overseas holiday and whilst away he took some photos that he thought would be of interest to members in our WW2 Restoration Group. Amongst his photos was a photo of an Italian FIAT Jeep type vehicle and we were wondering if this was a Military or a civilian vehicle, Looking at the photo it looks military but I must admit I have not seen one before. Anyone out there in LMU land able to shed some light on the vehicle and if it was a succeful type vehicle and how it would stack up to our military type vehicles.
