It comes with spare engine and Transmission, hood, A custom built hard top and another set of tires mounted on rims. This is the usual weld together unit and I am Asking $5,800.00 for it. Buy it Terry, then we can have a thread on the intricacies of keeping an M151A2 on the road. They are an extremely smooth vehicle cross country, and have a much more modern design of an engine than the Willys. I put many many miles on mine back in the day and always regretted selling it. I thought nothing of taking it for a 1000 mile round trip, and it rarely let me down.

I hear you Rob. Finances and haulage are the immediate concerns.

If you were closer I would beat Terry to it, but I don't know if the Canadian Government would allow export to Australia and I don't know how I would get it here or the cost. Beautifully looking vehicle the President of our MVCG association has one and drives it to Corowa regularly and that is about a 2000 Kilometre round trip. Cheers Tony

A frame towing
Quote:
Nothing wrong with A Frame towing I have been towing my 1942 MB Jeep up to 1500 Kilometres without a hitch and towing is so easy you have to keep checking the mirrors to see if she is still there. I have installed free wheeling hubs and remove the rear axles for long trips and its a breeze. But to far to tow to Australia. Cheers Tony

Just a couple more things: It has been welded in the middle from side to side like most of the ones I have seen. I took this unit on a trade so I don't know to much on the history of the unit but had to do some mechanical work on it to get it road worthy. The previous owner has put some patches in the floor where your feet rest on both sides and also in the back corners. The body is in average condition but defiantly not pristine. It is currently registered here in Alberta.

Funds transferred Wed pm. I will confirm with the branch on Thurs that they arrived. Thx! Looking forward to getting some in-transit insurance and closing the transportation auction.
For newcomers to parts of this game, www.uship.ca is a site where you post a load and truckers bid to take the load.

And now for the biggest M151a2 tip you will ever get: There are a total of 12 U joints and they all need grease at least twice a year. That will be after you have repacked all the wheel bearings, which will likely come loose after 50 miles and need re-adjusting.
Other weaknesses are: 1: the rear suspension hangers (simple plates whose holes tend to elongate.....the jeeps are rollover prone already without the rear suspension constantly shifting back and forth). 2: the transmission/transfer cases tend to wear out a little prematurely. Generally good for about 30,000 miles. But that's it. Keep those U joints lubed, and you should have thousands of good motoring miles. Are you also keeping the M38A1Cdn3 Terry? If so you will need a bigger yard. |

Well, since this thread has now officially meandered, here is my story about axle counts:
About two weeks ago I am reading the paper and next to the comics is the Anne Landers section. The first letter is about some woman complaining about her husband who has 10 vehicles in the yard, and is not really fixing any of them up fast. I accused the wife of writing the letter, but a quick count of vehicles and trailers (over a 1/4 ton) in the yard showed a number coming closer to 30, so she was off the hook. So to you, Terry, I can only recommend moving out to the rural country, or else possibly buying out one of the neighbors and converting their house into a secret garage. |

truly off topic
Earlier this week (remember what day Monday was?) there was a fellow complaining to Ann Landers about his wife's upper-body surgical augmentation, how she walked around the house without textiles and how he didn't know how to tell her he didn't like the surgeon's work. I could barely keep from laughing out loud. Oh to have his problems!

Terry, I almost bought this for myself, except a cooler head prevailed...
Buy another MV or throw the dollars into my NEW shop for the MVs. Plans underway, 32 x 60ft restoration facility for my toys, estimated build June 2013.
