Hello
My name is Adrian, and I am a collector from Poland. I'm going to buy a Chevrolet Canada c15 cab 11 - 1940. Can you tell me how to recognize a war engine from the post-war engine. On what markings I have to pay attention? Where on the engine this number is located? Where can I find the frame numbers? Can I ask for a photo. regards Adrian |

Hi Adrian
As you can guess engine serial numbers and engine casting numbers have been discussed many times over the years on MLU. Finding these discussions with there wealth of information is often the problem. To get you started though the engine serial number is located in two places both on the side with the distributor visible location is just to the rear of the distributor, a second serial number is under the lip of the valve side cover. ![]() I'll try and find the MLU thread that has the information on the casing number which are the primary way to determine the date of manufacture of the block. Good luck with you search for a CMP Cheers Phil

Hi Phil
Thank you for your infromation. Could you tell me one more thing. I read on this forum that chevrolet cmp for example (C15 cab 11) didn"t have serial number on the frame, is it possible? regars Adrian. |

Hi Adrian
Yes, it is true that often the serial numbers on the frame are missing or have not survived even light rust or disappeared under layers of paint They either were not very deeply stamped or they just didn't get done. I have looked very carefully on my 3 CMPs and have not found them. Two of them had there data plates which gave the numbers. One of them didn't have data plates and that one caused some problems when I went to register it. Cheers Phil
