They are listed as being in "North Thompson BC, Canada". The buy it now price is beyond what I'm interested in paying so I won't be competing with anyone else who might have an interest.

Obviously to a newbie who has no idea.
Even with a minty can a fellow would be hard pressed to get $100 for one.
On average these cans go between $50 to $75 here at most events.

yep Chris is about where I have seen these...$50 for the 2 gal, maybe $80 for 1 gal.

I remember as a newbie, I paid an outrageous price for a part as I had no idea others were interested in this strange hobby and so nothing to base reference on except all CMP parts are rare...learned that rarity and market value do not always go hand in hand....live and learn.

Rare does not always equal valuable.
Eg. An oddball part for an obsolete vehicle where no known surviving example
exist is "rare", but certainly not "valuable", as it serves little to no purpose
other than being a curiousity, that to a particular collector may hold
some interest...

These dated cans in the uk can be found at most car boot sales, expect to pay between £2 and £30 depending if they are dated and have a brass lid, Canadian ones with the 'circled C' go for a little more from a dealer, both 1 and 2 gallons are easy to find here.

Both types of POW cans here are difficult to find, especially the 1gal version.
They do pop up at farm and yard sales sometimes and as long as you are the onlu military collector there they go cheap.
We certainly did not see the same amount of these surplus over here because most are over there!
The same goes for most Gerry cans, whether they are American, German etc.
German ones here are especially expensive and hard to find although I did luck out last year when I found a stash real cheap at a junk sale.

Chris, get yourself on uk ebay item 400714504213 buy a 1 gallon for a tenner, I'm sure he will post it to you for about £15.
