Ryan,
the tread pattern looks odd as Trak Grip is the one on the left, a non directional and you can see what looks like a misalignment in the bars on the sidewall. Still very nice tyres!

Gentlemen, they are retreads. I had looked further down the sidewall for the signs and saw nothing. The misalignment in the bar is the join.

Hi Ryan,
I spotted RF on the sidewall, so they would be Ferret tyres, runflats.

Hi Richard,
Really! Here I am thinking that they are just a set of what must be post war Dunlops because of the different tread pattern and I'll wack 'em on a Blitz one day. But what I really have is a set of retreaded Ferret runflats! Does that mean they are useless for other vehicles? How does this reflect the price I was asking?

Some of the early Morris Commercial 15cwt trucks had runflats and owners of CMP and other British 15cwt's have used Ferret tyres in order to keep the correct tyre tread, they are a hard ride though. Ask a Ferret owner where he can get new runflat tyres, bet he would struggle to answer!

Where is the run flat? I cant find it
![]() If they are RF, they will be heavy as. How does the weight compare with the new one (that's not for sale)?

Hello Richard.
Wartime tyres aso had RF on the side of them, would it not be RFHS stamped into the side to make the tyres ferret? Ryan, they are not such a bad remould, i had one that was remoulded on a dunlop, but more of an agricultural tread! |

Are you not familiar with them? There is RF on the side wall, to the right of the size.

RFHS were a later version. Ferret had entered Australian service about 60 years ago and they were plain RF in those days, not saying they are that old just that they predate the HS variant

As far as I know, the 6.50" wide rim is the post-war rim, of the same diameter as the WW2 American one - which was larger than the 6" wide WW2 British one.
See my page page http://www.geocities.ws/cmpvehicles/tyres_900-16.html for more information. HTH, Hanno

I bought a Dodge WC52 at one time that had a run flat tyre on the rear. It wouldn't hold air but you couldn't tell by looking. That tyre did a thousand miles with no problems before I came up with a replacement.
It had to be cut through in two places to get it off the wheel which took a bit of doing. David

The (re)tread looks a lot like WW2 Good Year profile.
As Richard pointed out, they would look good on a Canadian or British WW2 vehicle. I understand that Ferret tyres fit rims on a CMP HUP without any modification(?). Alex

Well after not bothering to look at the tyres for months I had a look at the other non retreads. Guess what? They are runflats too. To fit 6.50 rims.
![]() Looks like a need a ferret.
