And at the same time say hello to the LAV-6 family. Out with the old, and in with the new. We can't keep it all, even if it does have some use.
It was only a few years ago (2013 I think?) that the M19 60mm mortar was phased out, despite the troops like for the weapon and the fact that they proved useful in the hills of Afghanistan. It was much easier to hump the 60 than something like the 81mm. I believe the 40mm grenade launcher replaced it. They may not be identical weapons, but you just can't keep them all. |

To be fair, the EROC kit they are unloading is the Husky V2.5 which doesn't have Ground Penetrating Radar and 4 Wheel Steering, and the Buffalo V1 does not have the Gyro Cam, Bar Armour, and has a different power pack from the Buffalo V2.
We could no longer use them even for training new operators here in Canada as the systems and spare parts were completely different from the current gen kit and were a chore to keep out of the VOR line. We also attempted to sell them to our Allies, but they were also buying the Husky V3.2 and Buffalo V2. Giving them to Ukraine would be giving away a problem, as both are easily defeated by contemporary IEDs and RPGs, and no longer have factory support for spares or training. Of course the media managed to make it look like we are chucking out perfectly good equipment. Some things become antiquated quicker than others, especially in the cat and mouse world of Counter-IED.
