The top is:
the arch; the steel pockets on the body for the arch; the tarp itself; 2 side curtains with their rods; 2 rods for over the doors; 2 doors; 2 hinge "sleeves" bolted to the windshield frame Some parts are lefts and rights. Some are version specific too. The doors for instance have early and late versions, and Canadian ones differ from US ones. Some parts can be fabricated. Like the arch and the rods. (see att) All canvas is perishable - especially the thread - so you might get a good looking set that will beat itself to shreds under a load. All plastic windows were yellowed, even when new. The yellower they were, the more brittle they were. So don't expect perfection.

Our exchange rate sucks, but if you fail to find decent canvas here in Canada, then places like Beechwood canvas, or many of the Jeep supply places will be your best bet.
The plastic windows have come a long way in the past 40 years. There are arctic grades of window material that put all that old yellow stuff to shame. It is a fairly easy job for someone with a industrial sewing machine to replace the window material. For the upright door rods, I used to modify them by welding a small washer about an inch up from the ends. It would prevent them from pushing the little tabs in the sockets out and falling into the body. Also prevented them from climbing up. A small cotter pin hole at the very top kept them in place. Personally, I have a complete set of canvas for my Jeep which is now buried in the canvas shed. Jeep days do not require canvas. I have never once put the canvas on in the 10 years that I have owned this Jeep. |

Rob and Terry
Thanks for the info, I'm going to head out and get some rod stock to build the rods, that's great stuff! I'm thinking of just running the open top if I can scrounge up the parts. I'm planning a trip to Willies Acres later in August. Cheers |
