I have just been given this small blackout side-light and wonder if anyone can tell me the kind of vehicle it would have been used on in WWII.

Guide Lamp Division was a part of General Motors and their products were used on vehicles built by GM (though not exclusively) such as the 6x6 2-1/2 ton CCKW and the Chevrolet 4x4 1-1/2 ton series of trucks.
The lamp pictured is a standard pattern U.S. military front blackout marker and as such could be used on any WW2 U.S. vehicle though the mounting did vary depending on application. David

Thanks David, so this type of sidelight is not suitable for my LRDG truck, which has a completely different kind - see pics. Does anyone know where I can get the LRDG type?

![]() Hi Andrew, Those rubber type light are not that hard to find. There are quite a few floating around Australia infact I might just have a NOS pair that I can let you have. I will have a look in the spares department (haha!). You actually need 3, as the convoy light for the rear axle is also one of those but I don't think I have 3 to spare. Give me a few days to have a look. Both Chev and Ford Cab11 and Cab12 Blitzes had them as original fittings and I guess that is where these came from. I am watching your replica LRDG with interest, you are doing a great job. regards Rick.

If these are the early CMP type as they appear to be I can help you with them New Old Stock.
I also have the mounting brackets, also NOS but not the plugs to go into the back.

Try Brian Asbury, known as BCA on MLU, . . . for the wiring plug into the back of the clearance lamps.

Plus I have the replacement rubber portion if you already have the socket; as well as complete lights with pigtail wire ($US45 while present supply lasts). Brian
