Default New Canadian submarine sneak photo!

Having suffered the problems with the ex-British subs, the Canadian government have had to dig deep and purchase a new British design.

There was then 5 cents left in the budget for new surface craft:

The Australian Gummint has lots of money to buy Submarines, but due to the drought, we have no water to put them in!

Default Geez!You bought Oberons too??

The word I've heard here in Canada is that we're going to take the last Oberon Class sub we had,cut in in two, transport it overland to our capital,Ottawa, rejoin it together, and float it in the Rideau Canal in Ottawaa,as a museum. Now I know where we got the idea.

Default Submarine Update

Hi All
Subsequent to Tony's post, the Federal Government just revamped the submarine program. They traded the subs in for a smaller version and with the profit bought some water.

Default GOvernment cost cutting

In regards to the submarines the Cdn gov has decided to continue the trend to get rid of army personnel and tender out services. This has proven effective in the past , like when having no heavy sea lift capability we had half our armoured vehicles stuck out in the middle of the Atlantic steaming in circles while the ships owners wanted more cash. Also, in catering food services in combat areas also, there have been 'relatively' few food posionings and the increased blandness has all but ended heartburn and overeating in the ranks.
So they have tendered the services of The West Edmonton Mall and their 6 submarines. Three will be on active patrol at all times while the other three will be in for maintenance and tourist trips. The three are steaming up the Peace river - Athabascan Delta-Slave river-Great Slave lake-Mackenzie River and into the Arctic ocean for deployment as we speak. The submarines have a 100% safety and service record.
