Default C8A HUP: oil retainers

Hi there,

I'm looking for several oil retainers:

- The felt retainers which are located on both sides of the rear axle of a HUP. Official part number is: 5807443; Retainer, Rear Wheel Hub Inner Oil Seal. Are there replacement parts available?

- Retainers for the transfer case (3x) and the gearbox (1x). I know you can get them new but I don't the exact sizes.

Looking forward to any replies.

Thanks for any help!

Greetings,

Roland

Default Retainers

You need to find the modern equivalent seal part numbers. Chicago Rawhide might have a seal to suit the C8A axles.. Jordan B wrote: SKF 19360 is the C15A transfer case seal , you need 3.

The older style axle oil seals were either a steel retainer with a leather or felt lip. Neoprene seals have been in use for 60+ years and are far better than leather or felt.

I have seen felt seals used in low stress applications i.e. front axle hemisphere seals. From memory the C8 4x2 has felt rear hub seals I bought two nos Flavel (Aust.) brand from AA seals in Mitcham years ago.

The C8A has different axles than other CMPs. Have you looked at the MLU topic for 'modern replacement parts' ?

Roland,

The same topic came up here as well:

Regarding the other seals...could you post the part numbers?

The master parts lists can be a great help:
