Default Interesting Pic

I came across this pic of a Cab 11 15 cwt 4X2 fitted with a Australian GS body No. 1 . This pic would have been taken in Australia , notice the Marmon Herrington No. 3/3A 's each side of the cab 11 .

You can clearly see the Australian pattern spare wheel carrier on this odd vehicle . Maybe this early 15 cwt was a direct import from Canada as a cab/chassis .

Default Possible answer

There is no evidence that any # 11 Cab trucks were sent directly to Australia. However we have discussed many times the fact that British Contract S/M 2002 for Ford and Chevrolet 15 cwt 4 x 2 trucks ended up in the hands of the AIF and then were taken back to Australia because deliveries were made to Alexandria from January 1941 and then the trucks were issued to British, Australian and Indian forces.

In addition there is a mystery Contract that may have covered the vehicle in question.
Z 417XXXX to Z 417XXXX BM/2V83.WS6 (D)? TRUCK 8 CWT. 4 X 2 GS FOR AUSTRALIA E.G.
Z 4177535 1940 CMP C.8 8420
Z 4183622 to 4183674 - BM/2V83.WS6 (D) TRUCK 15 CWT. 4 X 2 GS 1940 CMP C.15? 8421
Z 4183685 to 4183692 - BM/2V83.WS6 (D) TRUCK 8 CWT. 4 X 2 GS 1940 CMP C.8 8420
Z 430XXXX to Z 430XXXX - BM/2V83.WS6 (D)? TRUCK 8 CWT. 4 X 2 GS FOR AUSTRALIA E.G.
Z 4302620 1940 CMP C.8 8420
Z 4434XXX to Z 4434XXX - BM/2V83.WS6 (D)? TRUCK 8 CWT. 4 X 2 GS FOR AUSTRALIA E.G.
Z 4434405 AND Z 4434584 1940 CMP C.8 8420

It is thought that these were acquired from Canadian stocks for U.K. and/or Mid-East [then issued to A.I.F.] as per FORD orders:
BM/2V83.WS6 (D):
L 4183596 TO 4183621 ‘Lorry 3 ton 4 x 2 G/S'
Z 4183676 to 4183684 ‘Truck 15 cwt 4 x 2 G/S’
Z 4183693 to 4183718 ‘Truck 8 cwt 4 x 2 G/S’

Now I confess I have no idea what Contract BM/2V83.WS6 was...does it mean anything to anybody??? However it appears as though it was for CMPs and some ended up in the Mid East.

To explain the body, may I suggest that after having been shipped from Egypt back to Australia the body was so worn out that it was fitted with a new one by Holden's?
