I recently got this picture from an old friend. He is saluting in the turret. Captain Folke Schippel in UN service, Sinai, approx late 1960-ies.
But what type of armoured car? Ferret I beleive, but which nation provided armoured cars for the UN forces in Sinai. Do I remember right when thinking that UN left Sinai in 1967? Happy New Year! Stellan

This is a British Army Ferret Mk2, note the census number above the drivers hatch. I have just spotted a Bedford RL 3 ton truck behind the other Ferret, so would guess these vehicles all belong to British Forces. Richard |

Stellan,
Are you sure the photo was taken in the Sinai? It could well be in Cyprus, where the British supplied many vehicles for use by UNFICYP. The colour scheme and markings fit for the late '60s to early '70s period. Fyll |

You are right! Folke was also in UN service on Cyprus. I think we have to deal with the late 1960-ies or early 1970-ies.
Attached: A photo from Cyprus. Armoured cars SKPF.
