Hi Chris.
You asked if I would let you know when I got any news of the shipment from LWD in Broek op Langedijk. Well Damco phoned today and said they expect the skid on Feb. 6. I am a little sketchy on details as the lady on the phone had Chinese as a first and maybe only language. Between my old age, Chinese, garage noises and a crappy phone I had some difficulty. ![]() She had trouble understanding that I don't have a broker and Brian and I will do it ourselves. It means a trip to Pearson for Canada Customs and then probably another trip for Brian to pick up the skid when things clear. I know there are other guys on the forum with parts coming so hopefully we will have things sorted out by the end of the week. We left it that this lady will fax me with all the proper forms etc. on Monday. This is just like Christmas isn't it? ![]() Cheers Barry |

Most excellent Barry. If you or Brian require any assistance with this, let me know what I can do. Interesting, a fellow emailed me on this matter as he asked about a couple goods that are in the shipment for him. He is not a MLUer as far as I know.
I look forward to the goodies as do most of the others I'm sure. Keep us posted! |

Well Chris, the stuff is here. Brian and I went to Pearson today and did the Canada customs thing. We were looked after by this nice little African American girl and boy did she make it a fun experience. Really. She was most helpful and had Brian and I laughing. The concept of old truck parts from Holland was new to her but she saw no reason that they needed an inspection, so pay the duty, PST & GST and we were off to the bonded warehouse. There we paid the dockage fees and who knows what else and the stuff is ours. Brian is going back tomorrow for the pickup so we thought we should check out the loading area. They only have the high docks so we are skewered. Brian suggested we go in and check their loading capabilities. Well long story short the skid is still there but they let us bring home these old fenders and my trailer wheels. The guy in the Bonded warehouse was friendly and helpful and told Brian that tomorrow he will help him get the rest of the skid in the trailer. Unfortunately I can't take another day off work. Your fenders are reposing in Brian's van. On the weekend I may be going to my daughters in Bolton so maybe that is helpful in getting that old tin part way.
Cheers, Barry |
