Raccoons are fun to shoot, anyway. The best shot I made was in the barn at about 35 feet with my .45...

Knocking them out of trees with the .22 was good sport, too; the dawg used to come fetch me when he'd treed one, and he'd catch it on the way down when I nailed it.

I knocked off five of the destructive critters on my property this year.

From what I'm told, I should be free of them for at least 2 years, until they start to migrate.

Then it's fun time again.

Good shot, given my luck with trying to qualify with a 45 automatic as the saying goes I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn standing inside of it.

Now if you had just said you got a raccoon at 35 feet with a .45 we could have asked, did you shot it or throw the gun at it.

I spent the better part of an hour nocking a couple of Raccoons out of a tree with a basket ball ,they kept climbing back up as it was the only cover. I turned oround to pick up the ball and they took off .

Hahaha! I deserved that. Sorry, but I was laughing too hard at the time to frame my statement properly...

I really liked the .45 more than a 9mm... it fit my hand, and being muzzle-heavy with a lower mv, I found a lot less muzzle-flip vs the butt-heavy, high-mv 9....

JIf I have to agree with you..I never owned a Colt Model 1911 auto but had fired one once..It was much different from my Browning Hi Power..It was smooth and very accurate ,if gripped with the two handed grip...not the muzzle blast and jump up and to the left of the Hi Power..The two handed grip corrected that some what...But I had the Chinese contract model with the shoulder stock and that made all the difference in muzzle wander..
I played around with different loads and got the accuracy down by lighter loads ..but with the standard military loaded 9MM ammo,which was designed for the Sten,and loaded heavy to blow back the heavy sten bolt ,it really made the Hi Power dance..
But for all around critter shooting I prefered my Ruger 10/22 rifle with 4 power scope..
Many a rodent payed the price with extreem prejudice because of that little sweety..

that nipper is a racoon. You do know that those
cute little things can kill a dog,and will take a cat
for a light snack They can be down right nasty.
Down here they carry rabies nine times out of ten.

Then here's one for you too, Pat ... ...

Yes, Nipper is a Toronto racoon that used to visit our deck daily, we/I would provide dinner and/or snacks (they love cornchips!) with his relatives. Nipper named Nipper because he nipped Geoff one day and liked to try nipping me now and then, but I'd yell at him or swat his nose and would take my hand that fed him, away

By the way all you MLU-ers I'm NOT going to let Geoff get away with this tuff he-man stuff ... HE LOVED TO FEED THEM TOO and missed them when they didn't visit, most times!!!
