I presume you are talking about the flat metal swivel underneath the wing nut. I have only seen them in double sided and if they exist I believe they should be in the rear compartment, offside at the rear where 4 Vickers ammo boxes reside.

Bob

BTW - re. assistance during the year, my pleasure. You have given all of us pleasure as well with your lightning restoration. Roll on Corowa 2008 when we will all see the Carrier I have named "Rocket Ron".

Default brackets

Hi Bob,
Sorry mate I did not explain my self to well, What I mean is the pieces of steel on either side of the bracket, sort of pyramid shape, on some of the brackets this shaped side piece is only on the one side, I do not have a one sided one to post,I have had them befor but that was many years ago, and I can not remember where the one sided one goes in the line of ammo boxes,I think its at the end of the line of four boxes in the rear of the carrier? but can not remember if the one sided one is also used in the front section next to the Vickers water can, where the other two ammo boxes sit on the ledge to the left of the gunners seat,

Regards,
Ron,
PS,
Thanks for the kind comments,

The double sided "A" frame ammo box bracket is used to support the Vickers ammo box, where the box is positioned on both sides of the bracket, the single sided "A" frame bracket is used in the rear right corner of the vehicle where the Vickers ammo boxs are positioned. This bracket is used in the forward position as there is only one Vickers ammo box to be supported. These brackets are also the same ones used in the front left gunners position- these brackets are the double sided "A" frame brackets.
In reality vehicle crews would have used either bracket providing the ammo boxs were supported.
This is depicted in a couple of photos in 'Australian military Equipment Profiles' by M. Cecil. I have also found this to be the case in several wrecks that I have found over the yeras.
